Thank you for making last year a huge success! From birthday celebrations and peaceful paddle adventures to school trips and romantic canoe rides, it was an absolute pleasure welcoming you to Bearspaw Marina.
We need your support to keep Bearspaw Marina open and access to Bearspaw Reservoir.
Why This Matters:
- Lack of Proper Notification: The City of Calgary failed to directly notify Bearspaw Marina, and we only discovered this proposal through the community. This lack of transparency is unfair.
- Unfair Targeting: While other marinas like Glenmore Reservoir continue to operate, Bearspaw Marina is being unfairly singled out.
- Economic Impact: Closing Bearspaw Marina would eliminate over 20 local jobs and damage partnerships with local businesses and schools.
- Environmental Responsibility: We offer affordable, eco-friendly recreation perfectly aligned with conservation principles. Paddle-powered fun for just $20 an hour—no motorized boats allowed.
- Community Value: This marina has become a cherished gathering place for everyone—families, seniors, school groups, and outdoor enthusiasts.
How You Can Help:
Please take a moment to show your support.
- Submit your comments to the City of Calgary and let them know why Bearspaw Marina matters to you and why it should remain accessible to everyone.

Talking Points to Include in Your Submission:
- Unfair Treatment: Bearspaw Marina is being unfairly targeted while other launch points like Ghost Lake and Glenmore Reservoir are free to operate.
- Local Economy: Closing Bearspaw Marina would result in job losses and hurt local businesses and schools that benefit from our operations.
- Environmental Alignment: We provide affordable, non-motorized recreation that respects the natural environment.
- Community Value: Shutting down Bearspaw Marina would deprive the community of a unique, low-impact recreational space.
- Transparency Issues: The City of Calgary failed to properly notify Bearspaw Marina of this proposal, which undermines public transparency.
- Please share your personal experiences.
We are so grateful for your support and hope you’ll stand with us as we fight to keep Bearspaw Marina accessible for everyone. Thank you for everything
